My Story

Hey y'all, I'm Emily! I'm a Texas girl who was raised on sweet tea and Jesus, has a twin brother, enjoys music of all kinds, and loves to travel! I hope to study Business Management as well as Pre-Optometry, while also becoming proficient in American Sign Language at Baylor University.

American Sign Language

I have taken three years of ASL, and am starting year four with a deaf professor. Sign Language is truly a passion of mine; it is such a beautiful language. I can't wait to learn more about the vibrant deaf community!

Ukulele

My ukulele is my joyful instrument! I first learned to play when I was visiting Hawaii two years ago, and have stuck with it ever since. I know it has been said that you can't buy happiness, but you CAN buy a uke, and that's pretty darn close!

Piano

Everybody else is saving for a car...I'm saving for a Steinway! I enjoy playing classical pieces such as Chopin's "Minute Waltz" and Franz Liszt's "Liebestraum No. 3." I know I will always feel better after a few minutes of playing my piano!

Volunteer at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

I have been a volunteer at TSRHC for one year, and what an amazing experience it has been. It is such a blessing to serve at a hospital that is dedicated to providing top-tier pediatric healthcare and smiles all around! It is truly my second home.

Traveling

I'll go anywhere, you name it! I love seeing amazing sights, tasting new foods, and meeting unique people. I have been incredibly blessed to see so many places these last few years, and I can't wait to keep exploring. Just like the Disney movie UP says, "Adventure is out there!!"

Girl Scouts

I've been through the ranks: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador. After earning my Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, as well as many years of cookie sales, campouts, and patches, my vest is starting to look like that of a five-star general!
