Kathryn Wyckoff

My name is Kathryn Lydia Wyckoff, and I’m 13. I attend Vergennes Union High School. When I become an adult, I hope to work in the fields of music or film. I also love to travel. I have traveled to exotic places like Australia and the Bahamas.

This year in Math we have learned about linear equations, proportional relationships, and scientific notation. The picture above shows examples I made up of proportional relationships and scientific notations on a white board. My favorite out of these three subjects is proportional relationships.

So far this year in English we have learned about the English Language and Dystopias. The two images displayed above show 1984 by George Orwell and my dystopian essay about how North Korea and 1984 both have totalitarian governments. We also learned about different types of clauses.

In Science we have learned about kinetic states of matter and law of conservation of mass. Kinetic states of matter is when all matter is made up of small particles that are in random motion and that have space between them. Law of conservation of mass is the atoms cannot be created or destroyed.

So far this year in History class we have learned briefly about world geography, Egypt, geographical photography, and we are currently working on World Religions. My favorite topic of what we have learned about so far is world geography. During the geographical photography unit we made a poster.

I have played basketball all of my elementary school years and I plan to keep doing it until college. Every summer I take at least one basketball summer camp to improve my skills for the upcoming season. Typically I play guard position. During the summer I try to improve my weaknesses.

I have played different forms of softball throughout my elementary school years and will continue to play until I graduate High School. During Softball season when I'm not practicing at school I'm practicing at home. During games either play outfield or 2nd base.

I have been in our schools my 7th and 8th grade years. This year I have become Secretary of the Middle School Chorus. I have tried out for Districts three times last year I got in, but I'm still waiting anxiously for the results of this years auditions. I was picked for Honors Choir last year.

Every year my family travels out of state many times. About every other month I go to New York City with my dad. Every other year we go to Atlantis in the Bahamas. I traveled all around Europe two summers ago. I have been to exotic places like Antigua, Caribbean and Melbourne, Australia.
