Sofia

Hi! I'm Sofia, and I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I love reading and writing, staying active, and being with family. I am also an excellent collaborator; whether I'm working on my WoW shoes, prosecuting for the Hollywood Blacklist, or leading Finance for Reel Delicious.

I help my community by reffing games, setting up the fields, and taking pictures for my local AYSO website. I also help out with the jamboree, which is for kids from the ages 4-6 who are starting to play soccer. I was voted "Youth Referee of the Year" during the 2015-16 season.

I have been playing soccer, as a forward, since the 7th grade. I love the sport; whether I am playing it or watching it. My favorite football club is Manchester United from the English Premier League, and there is no greater feeling than putting my jersey on and representing my team.

The Reel Delicious Project was a San Diego based student-run food truck that promoted cultural understanding and media literacy through food and film. As the leader of the Finance Committee, it was my duty to keep track of all financial funds.

I teamed up with a classmate of mine to create a research project that would benefit the community in some way. My partner and I decided to look deep into the life of toilets. We entered the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair and placed fourth in the microbiology category.

For this project students critically examined human’s relationships – societal, economic, personal & otherwise – with nature and employed a piece of DIY furniture encouraged by observations of nature’s most functional & attractive design approaches.
