Sophie Cohen

I am highly involved with extracurriculars and community service. My family acts as an incredible support system- my mother, father and step-mother all encourage me to pursue my passions, especially dance and theater. Science, especially bio and chem, highly interests me; I plan on doing research.

I have spent most of my time at the WHBPAC and have performed as several principle roles including Aunt Eller in "Oklahoma!" and the Witch in "Into the Woods". I have also performed with the QJTT in "Fiddler on the Roof". I am also active in my school's drama department productions.

I have been dancing at my studio, Dance Centre of the Hamptons, for 15 years now, two of them competitively. We compete at several annual competitions and usually receive Gold or High Gold awards. My main styles are hip-hop, ballet, musical theater and tap. DCOTH has become like a family to me.

People to People Ambassadors allowed students to travel abroad for three weeks and have the experience of a lifetime. I was lucky enough to be nominated for two trips, one to France Italy and Greece and another to Australia. In Australia, I was selected to be the Junior Leader of our travel group.

Over the past four years I have worked a total of three jobs while maintaining my high academic average and dedication to my extracurriculars.
