Yikuan Xia

With passion for engineering, I founded Inventron Club with my friends last year and invented a lot of our own stuffs. The remote control car with a single armed controller is the invention we felt proudest of. We made it for a disabled kid whose right arm was amputated.

In the competition, I cooperated with five teammates to accomplish an engineering project and compete with other teams. As the chief engineer and programmer in my team, I preliminarily learnt microcontroller and control theory, and the experience also gave me inspiration for my inventron club

Trying to help kids in the rural area widen their vision, I initiated this activity with my classmates. We donated over 1000 books collected from friends to Haitang Elementary School and had interactive class with students there.

I taught the mentally deformed kids to sing songs and use simple skills on cell phone and computer, and played the piano for their weekly dancing party.

For me, every journey is an experience of harmony, the harmony between me and my tour pals, the harmony between me and the nature. Even taking a good photo needs a good understanding of harmony. Traveling makes me a more well-rounded person.

Among the many places I've been to, Tibet is my holy land. I went there for four times, and each time I was intoxicated to the calmness and grandness of the nature, the purity of life, and the power of belief.

I enjoy doing Tao Yi during my spare time. It attracts me because of the special trait of hand-made artifacts: each piece of work is unique, depending on the material, timing and even the mood of the maker. What's more, doing hand craft makes me more patient and discreet in my everyday life.
